Dorothy A. Houle, 96, Forest Lake, died peacefully on Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013.
She was born July 9, 1917 in Forest Lake, the daughter of John and Frances (Grundtner) Grieman. She graduated from Forest Lake High School, Class of 1935. She was united in marriage to Mark Houle on Sept. 9, 1937. Dorothy was a member of The Church of Saint Peter, where she was active in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, playing the piano and performing with the White Bear Lake Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by her children, Marynne (Marvin) Rehbein, James (Engracia) Houle, Eileen (Richard) Lodyga, Margaret Houle, Therese (Joseph) Gitzen; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances; husband, Mark; brother, John Grieman Jr.; sister, Frances Morrisette.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7 at The Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m. at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to The Church of Saint Peter Resurrection Choir.
