Donna Lee Davis, age 90, of Forest Lake, passed away on February 13, 2015, at Parmly LifePointes in Chisago City.
Born in South Gifford, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Don G. and Mary E. Furgason Crawford.
After graduating from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1942, Donna began working in the offices of Meredith Publishing Company. She married First Lieutenant Harley Baker Davis on September 19, 1943 in Grand View Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa.
Donna was a supportive, military wife, moving many times as her husband was transferred about the USA. She was a dedicated mother, working at home to care for her children, as they were growing up. Donna’s skills in the kitchen were appreciated by her family. She loved fishing and gardening, was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader and an ardent Minnesota Twins fan. Donna worked several years in the 1960’s as a cook at Birchwood Health Care Center, before becoming a Homemaker for Washington County, where she worked until her retirement.
Donna was a charter member of Immanuel Church of Forest Lake, where she was active until her move to Parmly LifePointes in 2002.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Crawford; brother-in-law, Trenton Starr; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Davis; and son-in-law, Don Moorhouse.
Donna is survived by her sister, Joanne Crawford Starr of Bloomfield, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Letha Crawford of Centerville, Iowa; her three children, Kay Davis Moorhouse of Piney Flats, Tennessee, Alan Davis of Wasilla, Alaska and Jo Ellen Davis of Wyoming, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Michelle Moorhouse Morgan, Melissa Moorhouse Fortner, Melanie Moorhouse Moore, Trevor Davis, Kevin Davis, Kimberly Osterbauer Cressman, Matthew Osterbauer and Jennifer Osterbauer; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Remembrance service will be held at a later date at Immanuel Church in Forest Lake.
