Scandia Elementary announced the classroom winners of the grades five and six spelling bee held Jan. 22. Cayden Christenson was the overall champion and will represent Scandia in the National Scripps Spelling Bee competition.
Scandia Elementary geography bee classroom winners included Lauren Thraen-Zalusky, Sam Larsen, Reid Hultman, Cayden Christenson, Leo Kressin, Max True, Mason Waite, Matthew Schwartz, Jonna Goehner and Xavier DeWolfe. Sam Larsen earned championship honors for the third year in a row and will now take a national geographic exam that, depending on his score, could earn him a trip to the Minnesota National Geographic Bee.
