March Events
“Moo!” Traveling Trunk Show with David LaRochelle & Mike Wohnoutka
March 15, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Join author David LaRochelle and illustrator Mike Wohnoutka as they interview Cow – the star of their book “Moo!” – about her travels, perform a puppet show retelling of “Moo!”, get everyone up and dancing to some original music, and follow up with group storytelling and drawing activities.
Middle Earth New Year’s Party
March 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Come celebrate the start of a brand new year in Middle Earth, after the overthrow of Sauron in “The Lord of the Rings.” Listen to Elven Minstrels sing, match wits with the riddle master, battle goblins, go on a treasure hunt, and more. Get a prize if you come in costume and be entered in a drawing for other prizes throughout the event. This event is limited to 20 participants. Minnesota Book Awards at the Library: Meet the 2015 Minnesota Category Finalists
March 21, from 2 to 3 p.m.
Hear the Minnesota category finalists Tricia Cornell (“Minnesota Farmers Market Cookbook”); Larry Millett (“Minnesota’s Own: Preserving Our Grand Homes”); and John Moriarty and Carol Hall (“Amphibians and Reptiles in Minnesota”) read from their nominated works, along with special guest Kristin Makholm, 2014 winner for “Modern Spirit: The Art and Life of George Morrison.”
Bubble Wonders Show
March 29 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Join “bubble-ologist” Geoff Akins on a bubble wonders adventure. Geoff uses ordinary soap bubbles to create amazing bubble tricks and creatures, including the bubble caterpillar, the bubble volcano, the dancing bubble, and a bubble merry-go-round. Kids will learn about the art and science of bubbles.

“Moo!” Scavenger Hunt
March 1 through March 31
Help Cow find her friends in a special library scavenger hunt. This Once Upon a Reader program is part of Washington County Library’s Month of “Moo!” celebration.
“Moo!” Milk and Cookie Super Storytime
March 3 and March 11 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Enjoy a special milk and cookies themed storytime celebrating the Once Upon a Reader book selection “Moo!” by David LaRochelle. Every family will go home with a free copy of the book.
“Moo!” Storywalk
March 15 through March 21
Follow the pages of “Moo!” by David LaRochelle around the library. This Once Upon a Reader program is part of Washington County Library’s Month of “Moo!” celebration.
MacPhail Center for Music Presents: “Animals Make Music”
March 20 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Explore music and play with MacPhail Center for Music’s early childhood music specialists. Families will experience the impact of music on learning and reading readiness skills through singing, rhyming, reading, moving, and creating. Children ages birth to five and their families are welcome at this 45 minute program. Register on the library’s website or call the Hardwood Creek Library at 651-275-7300.
Super Storytime
March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
A craft or other activity expands Preschool Storytime into Super Storytime! Stories, songs, finger plays, and more will encourage the development of early literacy skills. This program is for children preschool through kindergarten age and their caregivers.
Baby Storytime
March 4, 11,18, 25 9:45 to 10:15 a.m.
Children up to 24 months and their caregivers can enjoy rhymes, songs, toys, and books.
Preschool Storytime
March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Children preschool through kindergarten age and their caregivers can enjoy stories, songs, finger plays, and more to encourage the development of early literacy skills.
Family Storytime
March 7, 14, 21, 28 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Children two and up and their families can enjoy stories, songs, finger plays and more to encourage the development of early literacy skills.
Dog Gone Reading with Maddie or Bella
March 5 (Maddie) and March 19 (Bella) from 4 to 6 p.m.
Children in grades K-7 read aloud to a certified therapy dog and its owner. Reading intervals are 15 minutes in length. Sign up at the children’s desk or call 651-275-7300.

March 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m

Web developers from Twin Cities Media Alliance explain how to set up a site, how to navigate the settings, and how to generate traffic to your site.
