Last month, dancers from The Dance Factory in Forest Lake headed south to the Welk Resort and Theater in Branson, Mo. for a national competition in all styles and levels of competitive dance.
The Dance Factory walked away with the “Sportmanship Award” and Forest Lake eighth grader Natasha Friedges took the special award for “Miss Teen Photogenic.”
Taking third place high score for tap dance in the large group division for ages 11 and under was the Dance Factory, performing to “Dance with Me.” In the junior division solos, coming away with a third place high point was Maris Lapointe, who performed a lyrical interpretation of “Cry.”
In the senior small group category, the Dance Factory received awards for its tap performance to “Any Second Now.”
At the Spotlight National Dance Competition, the top scoring routines are asked to stay and compete again in the Championship Extravaganza on the final day. The Dance Factory was pleased to have 24 dancers make it to the extravaganza.
The Dance Factory is located in Forest Lake (1432 Lake St.). Visit www.dancefactorymn.com for information about fall classes or to set up a tour.
