The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that preliminary road work on the intersections project at U.S. Highway 61 and State Highway 97 will begin Aug. 3. According to MnDOT, the northbound and southbound traffic on 61 between Scandia Trail North and 210th Street will be reduced to one lane each throughout the day during the week. That work is being done so crews can clear greenery and build a temporary traffic crossover.
Forest Lake City Engineer Ryan Goodman also reported that there may be some overnight road closures at the site, along with a possible weekend closure, in August. He said the most invasive work will be completed before school starts, and the bulk of the project to install roundabouts at the highway’s two intersections will be done next summer.
