School supply drive
Famous Dave’s of Forest Lake, 43 19th St. SW, is hosting a back to school supply drive with the Kids in Need Foundation Aug. 17 to 31. Basic videoshooting class
Lakes Area Community Television will host a free video equipment training class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the TV studio at 24260 Greenway Ave. N., Suite C. Memorial golf tournament
The Pat Cheyne Memorial Golf Tournament and wine tasting event will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Forest Hills Golf Club. The annual event is a benefit for the Forest Lake Area Community Scholarship Foundation. For registration or information, go to patcheynegolfevent.com.
Charity car show
Midwest Mopars will host a “Cars for Soldiers” charity car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at Wilcox Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 321 19th Street SW. All funds raised will go directly to help treat U.S. military personnel wounded and disfigured during service in Iraq and Afganistan. Funds will be matched by Midwest Mopars. Trophies will be awarded for best in show, soldier’s choice, Midwest Mopars’ choice, dealership’s choice, best GM, best Ford, and best other. Open to all makes and models with a $5 minimum entry donation for show cars and spectators.
