Joseph Joe Remitz, 96, Forest Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014.
Joe served in the Army Air Corps during WWII (with the 8th Air Force), and led his B-24 Squadron on 33 missions over Germany, Poland and France. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with clusters and many others.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake.
He is survived by his children, Rita (Charlie) Flory, Joe (Colleen), Steve (Judy), Dan, Mike, Pat, Chris (Barb), Colleen (Mike) Grant, Duke; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey; brother, Florian.
