The Scandia City Council is looking for more volunteers to serve on the City’s Planning Commission, Wastewater Advisory Committee, and Parks and Recreation Committee. The term of the Planning Commission member, two Parks and Recreation Committee members and the Wastewater Advisory Committee member on the 201-Bliss System will expire Feb. 1, 2016. Appointments will be made for five year terms ending Feb. 1, 2021.

The five-member Planning Commission meets the first Tuesday of each month, and advises the City Council on all matters related to planning and zoning including but not limited to variances, subdivisions, conditional use permits, and the comprehensive plan. The five-member Park and Recreation Committee meets the first Monday of each month, and advises the City Council on all matters relating to parks and recreation activities and represents the City in events such as Taco Daze and Vinterfest. The seven-member Wastewater Advisory Committee meets as needed, typically on a quarterly basis, to advise the City Council on matters regarding the city’s “201” and “Uptown” wastewater systems including long- and short-range planning for operations, maintenance, improvements, expansion and financing.

Application forms are available at the city office and on the website at www.ci.scandia.mn.us. Applications are due by noon on Friday, Dec. 18. The City Council is expected to interview applicants sometime in January 2016.
