Six bus drivers from Forest Lake Area Schools recently competed in the Minnesota State School Bus Driver Road-eo. The annual state-wide event was held in Arden Hills and consisted of a written exam, pre-trip inspection and a driving skill event. Competing for Forest Lake were Jeanie Peltier, Darcy Overland, Rebecca Devine, Karina Larson, Eric Larson and Earl Nelson.
Nelson placed first in the school district conventional bus category and finished fourth overall in the state. Due to his first-place finish, Nelson has been invited to compete in the 46th Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition Road-eo this summer. Bus drivers volunteer their time to practice and participate in this event.
