Ranger Review set for Friday at high school
Set aside Friday evening, when for $5 you can have fun and help send a kid to preschool.
Beginning at 7 p.m. at the Forest Lake High School auditorium, about 100 staff members of ISD 831 will present a talent show to raise money for Community Education scholarships.
The Ranger Review will feature songs and skits performed by staff groups from each building in the district.
The show opens with “Thriller,” a Zumba song and dance number with new words by Kelly Larson, vocal music instructor at Forest Lake Elementary.
Larson also wrote new words for the closing piece, “So Long, Farewell.”
Heidi Sapa, vocal music instructor at Columbus Elementary, wrote “Going Down to the Office Blues,” which will be performed by Columbus staff.
There will be a Lino Lakes skit, a Forest View skit, and an Early Childhood skit. Scandia Elementary teacher Dave Seaburg will sing, and high school orchestra director Dave Livermore will play guitar.
Watch for school principals in the administration number called “Air Heads.” (There will be balloons.)
Community Education Director Julie Ohman will be part of that group. It was Ohman’s idea to stage the variety show as part of the 40th anniversary celebration year for Community Ed, and to give the proceeds to the scholarship fund. Groups have been practicing since September, she said.
Community Ed staff will present a Garrison Keillor-like radio show, complete with Ole and Lena jokes, songs and commercials. The script was written by Community Education’s adult program planner Larry Damico.
Tickets are available now at the district office or at the door Friday.
Forest Lake High School is located at 6101 Scandia Trail (Highway 97) in Forest Lake.
